Biography
Benoit graduated from sudbury Teacher's College in 1968.He was a teacher for two years before going into business.
He is certified by the Canadian school of accounting (tax),had a licence from the Ontario Real Estate Board, as well as
a licence from the Director of Life Insurance for Ontario.
He was elected in the riding of Timiskaming,French River in 1993, and elected in the new riding of Timiskaming ,
“Cochrane in 1997 and again in 2000. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, Northern
Development and Natural Resources and has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources.
He has served as vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations, as chair
of the Standing Committee on Official Languages and as a member of the Joint Committee on Scrutiny of
Regulations. He also was chosen vice-chair of the Northern Ontario Liberal Caucus, and was a member of the Liberal
Rural Caucus and the Liberal Caucus Committee on Re-Training.
Ben is currently retirered.
